Real Tree, Real Christmas

As more consumers seek eco-friendly options, it’s important to note that real Christmas trees are better for the environment than artificial ones. While some may believe that artificial trees are a greener option because they don’t involve cutting down a living tree, fresh-cut Christmas trees are actually the more sustainable choice.

According to Bill Ulfelder, executive director of the Nature Conservancy in New York, “There should be no remorse, no guilt, like, ‘Oh my goodness, it’s a cut tree.’ It’s absolutely the contrary. Trees are a renewable resource. When they’re being cut, they’re being harvested in ways that they’re being replanted, so it’s a great renewable resource that provides lots of environmental, conservation, and nature benefits.”

Real trees are grown as a renewable resource, with new trees being planted for every one harvested. This sustainable cycle supports conservation efforts and provides various environmental benefits, such as absorbing carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen.

On the other hand, artificial trees, which are typically made in China, require significant transportation resources, increasing carbon emissions. Most artificial trees are also made of non-recyclable materials and end up in landfills after a few years of use. Choosing a real, fresh-cut tree not only reduces carbon emissions but also supports eco-friendly practices and keeps waste out of landfills.

Real Christmas Trees Better Environment, Eco-Friendly

The National Christmas Tree Association points out that Christmas tree farms generate steady, renewable resource that helps the environment in several ways. Tree farms absorb greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide while emitting oxygen. The farms that produce Christmas trees create beautiful green belts while preserving the soil, preserving water resources, and offering a haven for wildlife. Christmas trees are frequently cultivated on soil that is unsuitable for other crops.

Why Josario's Christmas Trees?

At any given time, about 400 million trees are growing on farms, while only about 30 million are harvested annually for Christmas. So overall, tree farms in the United States keep hundreds of thousands of acres covered in a healthy forest habitat that supports wildlife while reducing erosion and improving air quality. Buying a real Christmas tree supports farmers and encourages a sustainable, eco-friendly business model.

The Rivas family has owned and run Josario’s Christmas Trees in Orlando for nearly 30 years. We proudly support tree farmers and encourage shoppers to help in the fight for a cleaner, greener planet by buying a real, fresh-cut Christmas tree this year.
